Non IT Online Jobs at Odesk

Although initially the online jobs posted by buyers at Odesk were all Information Technology (IT) related, recently we’ve seen a flourish of non IT jobs cropping up. Which is of great benefit to all industries as it allows them to tap into the competitive rates offered by overseas companies and providers.

If you look at it from a macro perspective, it fulfils the aims of IT, which is as an enabler and equalizer, where people will be freed from the confines of their four walled cubicle as well as the limits that geography imposes on us. More importantly it gives us the benefit of Choice.

It did take a long time getting here, since the day that the High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991 (HPCA) of former Vice President and Nobel Prize Winner, Al Gore, was passed. This opened a Military communications tool to the general public and injected funding for its development.

A lot of other things had to fall into place before sites like Odesk could allow people to connect with one another and offer services that breakdown the traditional borders imposed by governments and soceity. Such as the development of the web browser, the search engine, high speed broadband Internet, easy online payment gateway’s, Text and Voice messaging systems are but some of the things that had to arrive ahead. I also have to mention that open source and the development of the GPL paved an even bigger avenue to the opening up of the internet and the breaking down of borders.

“Now” has always been a good place to be at, its just up to us to make the most out of it.
