Foliar Fertilization is a method of distributing targeted quantity of nutrients elements to plants. This is primarily done by mixing the Foliar fertilization mix in water and deploying it to the under portion of the leaves in a fine mist. This could be considered as a surgical approach to plant nutrition.

Plant nutritionists have determined that the major elements needed for ideal plant growth are :

1. Primary Plant Nutrients - Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium
2. Secondary Plant Nutrients - Calcium, Silicon, Sulfur, Magnesium

Due to the popularity of the Malunggay leaves (also known as Moringa) as a natural health supplement, some industrious folks at the The Bureau of Plant Industry have devised a way to prepare the leaves in either tea or capsule form to make it easier for human consumption. In this way, the malunggay leaves are preserved and its shelf life increased.

The Malunggay or Moringa plant in the Philippines has traditionally been used by lactating mothers as a supplement to induce increased milk production when taken as a soup. Aside from that it was more popularly used as plain old fencing posts. Recently though the new found uses of the plant have spurred interest in propagating the plant for commercial use.
